When you hear about somebody making a game for an 8-bit Nintendo console it’s usually homebrewers, hobbyists, or budding game makers and not Square Enix. While the game will still be available for the Wii and the upcoming Wii U this is quite unexpected and very cool.

The above screen shot on the left shows a battle party screen. The screen shot on the right though has very strange dialogue that prompts the player to go online and search for party members. So now we’ve gone from a brand new Famicom game to a new Famicom game with online play? What?! How does one get their Famicom online?

If you’re a fan of the Dragon Quest games or not it’s pretty cool to hear about a big company like Square Enix kickin’ it old school like this even if we’ll probably never get to see the results in North America.
